Constants of Faith

"Constants of Faith" is a wood carving that hangs in the Nebraska Synod Center in the Anderson Complex next to the Pastor's office. The sculpture weighs over 170 lbs, and is carved out of golden birch. It is five feet wide, two and a half feet tall and nine inches thick. The sculpturer is Dr. Steve Bunck, professor of chemistry on the campus. Bunck's sculpture shows what he believes are the four elements in all faith: life, death, freedom and bondage. They are dualities. Dr. Bunck was asked by the 1991 senior class to create a piece of art for the college. The class requested something that would replicate their faith. Dr. Bunck determined life, death, freedom and bondage were the four elements of faith life. When he completed the piece of art a year later, he titled his carving "Contants of Faith".
